His concerts have a way of doing that. Sadly, I missed this. I had great seats offered to me from a friend who works at Yahoo, but I had to work out of the country.
It's like going to church, isn't it? Bruce makes you believe that Rock and Roll can save your life.

Great story Scott, and the Morello solo is astonishing.

I've seen Bruce about fifty times, beginning back in 1973. Any list I would make of my favorite shows ever would have the top ten filled with his name. I'm sorry that his shows here this summer will be in stadiums, because I have no interest in seeing a stadium show. I saw him once in a stadium and it was not enjoyable. I guess I'm old, but I have my memories of him at small clubs like the Stone Pony and the Bottom Line, and small theaters on the Darkness tour (to me the greatest rock and roll tour ever), and that's enough for me.

That last paragraph pretty much sums up how I felt the first time I saw Explosions in the Sky play at the El Rey. It's pretty fantastic to have that experience, when you walk away from the concert and don't want to listen to any music for the next week (even from the band you just saw); you just want to replay the songs from the show in your own head as many times as you can until they start to fade.

To which I say, "Thank God for You Tube!"

Jeez, why did you have to write this? I had done a superb job rationalizing my decision not to attend this show (Anaheim's a long haul for me, especially on a weeknight), and now you've gone and blown that all to hell.

I was at the Sports Arena last fall, too (second night), which was (only) my sixth time seeing Bruce. It's not nearly enough.
