Eons ago, I think I mentioned in a Popdose discussion about how I, too, once got so caught up in the wonder of the Yes family family that I started buying anything and everything connected to that group...and we're talking Geoff Downes' "Light Program" album, even...but The Buggles' "Adventures in Modern Recording" was one of the few albums that made me glad to have embarked on that endeavor. I still love every song on that disc.

I went through the same thing, Will. At one point, I owned "Esquire", "GTR" and Trevor Rabin's late 80's solo album (wish I still had that one). I also explored Jon Anderson's work with Vangelis (too new agey for me) and even took an interest in Frankie because of Horn's production and Steve Howe's solo guitar work on the record. Man! I had a lot of time on my hands when I was a kid.

Can't Look Away is a gem of an album. Have you heard 90124? What say you about it? I've always been curious ...

Love the story, Scott, it's really touching. I have a 5 year old girl myself and it's just amazing how effortlessly kids can lift your spirits...
I'm looking forward already to what she'll pick up from my music collection in years to come :-)

There is something about the chorus of that song that has a cartoonish quality to it. But you have to admit that the "rock out" ride out part of the video is pretty dorky -- well, the whole video is pretty dorky, but that last part has an extra helping.

I was giving my 18-month-old son a bath the other day, and I was playing a cassette of some '80s music (my wife did the AIDS ride, and we threw a fundraiser, which I DJ'd). Jim Carroll's "People Who Died" came on, and as soon as he heard the chorus, my son said, "Die! Die!" I have to get this on video, because he's never going to remember it, and I'm never going to forget it.

Got to find a piano only version Geoff did a lifetime back... all the drama without the cartoonish chorus. But yes, it's that quality that appeals to children....and us to. Fun!
