At one point, I owned "Esquire", "GTR" and Trevor Rabin's late 80's solo album (wish I still had that one). I also explored Jon Anderson's work with Vangelis (too new agey for me) and even took an interest in Frankie because of Horn's production and Steve Howe's solo guitar work on the record. Man! I had a lot of time on my hands when I was a kid.

Re: Basement Songs: The Buggles, “Video Killed the Radio Star”

Hey, Trevor Horn has a USB dongle attached to his neck!

Re: Basement Songs: The Buggles, “Video Killed the Radio Star”

Got to find a piano only version Geoff did a lifetime back... all the drama without the cartoonish chorus. But yes, it's that quality that appeals to children....and us to. Fun!

Re: Basement Songs: The Buggles, “Video Killed the Radio Star”

I was giving my 18-month-old son a bath the other day, and I was playing a cassette of some '80s music (my wife did the AIDS ride, and we threw a fundraiser, which I DJ'd). Jim Carroll's "People Who Died" came on, and as soon as he heard the chorus, my son said, "Die! Die!" I have to get this on video, because he's never going to remember it, and I'm never going to forget it.

Re: Basement Songs: The Buggles, “Video Killed the Radio Star”

There is something about the chorus of that song that has a cartoonish quality to it. But you have to admit that the "rock out" ride out part of the video is pretty dorky -- well, the whole video is pretty dorky, but that last part has an extra helping.
http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Re: Basement Songs: The Buggles, “Video Killed the Radio Star”

Love the story, Scott, it's really touching. I still love every song on that disc.
