It is a wish that many parents have that their children take that risk on their behalf if they were ravaged with cancer or, worse in a way, cruel and progressive Alzheimer's Disease. Most of us wouldn't even ask but they did knowing he would be put at risk. Apparently he has not been questioned or investigated despite the boldness of this book. It is a lesson for society that the law must change to make this a legal act, and to parents and children that this act of love is less risky than it would seem.

Re: Book Review: John West, “The Last Goodnights: Assisting My Parents with Their Suicides”

i WAS THRILLED TO GET THE LAST AUTOGRAPHED COPY OF THIS BOOK @ BORDERS. i WORKED FOR THE FAMILY 1986-1991 iITS REFRESHING TO READ ALL THE DETAILS< IT WAS A HARD JOB FOR JOHN.PLEASE PASS THIS MESSAGE TO JOHN WEST> THANKS.

Re: Book Review: John West, “The Last Goodnights: Assisting My Parents with Their Suicides”

It probably is a great and strange fortune that West has such personality situations. How many books have saintly caretakers confronting harrowing odds, and how often can the reader buy into the reality of such a character? West probably makes the book easier to read by virtue of his "isms" because, if they weren't present, the heartwrenching could be unbearable.
