Hey, what you describe below the Central LIne hit is exactly what hapenned to me. I was watching MTV when Jingling Baby/LL Cool J came out. I was sure knew that sample but couldnt recall the original song what really bugged me . Well, I thought that sample was a D-Train song sample .but after Googling a lot at 3:00 AM.... I found your web site thats showed me Central LIne is the original song sample. What a relief ! Congrats ! 80s songs still rules. !Alex Simons - Brazil

Ah, Cellarful of Noise. I remember when this single came out. The band name led me to expect something Beatle-y...obviously, I was sorely disappointed. Sadly, the ensuing decades have not improved the track.

And while I agree that Carrack and Cetera are good vocalists, let's not overlook Karen Carpenter. Yes the material is confectionary and overarranged, but she's got one of those voices that could redeem almost anything, up to and including Beechwood 4-5789 . Ben Orr of the Cars is excellent too. Add in Kim Carnes distinctively arresting whiskey-and-cigarettes purr, and Streisand's technically awesome pipes (even if I don't like the material she chooses to use them on), and this is probably the best batch of vocalists this series has yet seen.

(Yes, even counting Ric Ocasek.)

A good friend and I were only recently talking about how "Since You're Gone" is our favorite Cars song. I love that solo Elliott Easton takes (did he use an e-bow?). I know my memory sucks, but I coulda sworn that was at least a Top 20.

Is next set including Cheap Trick? They had a long string of "almost hits" in the '80s. (Up the Creek, I Can't Take It, etc.)

I hear you. For about 15 years I couldn't for the life of me comprehend how anyone could think that James Ingram's "Just Once" wasn't a masterful piece of art and a magical moment in music history. I still think it is, but deep inside I know that I'm wrong and that the rest of the world is right. Come to think of it, I feel the same way about "Glory of Love."

If I'm remembering correctly, the booklet for the album doesn't name his duet partner -- it was one of those four-panel foldouts that barely made room for the band credits.
