I love Carrie's new cd! And your review is very entertaining! :) I do disagree that she didn't take chances here though, because I think Cowboy Casanova was pretty risky, but it paid off. I love that song!

What do you think was risky about the song?

"Donuts have no nutritional value, but they’re fucking delicious." That right there, is gold.

In high school, I had an English teacher who limited us to three exclamation points per year. Suddenly, I understand why.

What a rude statement...and totally uncalled for.

I think you might be overreacting a little!!!

I all but voided the warranty on my laptop (via coffee spew) because of that Rascal Flatts comment. I agree that stock formulas are just that because they do work. But give me my twangy guitars and fiddle pickers any day over this "type" of music. However before I come off as an unprompted snark, I'm sure that those that make Taylor Swift gigantic will very much enjoy this album.

I'm with you in terms of personal preference, but I have to review the record in the context of what it's supposed to be -- and on those terms, I think it's a more or less complete success.

It's a big pop record with a little bit of a drawl and, really, there's nothing wrong with that. Underwood is not doing anything Dolly didn't do with her hits (ahem, I said "hits") in the late '70s and early '80s, and it's easy on the ears.

I love this review. Very entertaining.
I can't wait until November 6th, when Play On hits Australia's shore.
Plus the donuts comment: Brilliant. (:
