Popdose: CD Review: Ian McLagan & the Bump Band, “Never Say Never”

I'm with you...The Faces rocked in a way Rod Stewart on his own rarely came close to....as a bonus the Small Faces were just as good in a different way. Anyone who has ever heard "You Need Lovinge" by The Small Faces knows that Robert Plant owes his career to listening to Steve Marriott....

Marriott was certainly one of the great rock singers, if not the greatest. Just listen to his work on Humble Pie's "Live at the Fillmore."

Apologies to drummer "Scrappy" Jud Newcomb for calling him Joe by mistake.

Owes his career? A bit over the top, side 3, don't you think? On to matters more soundly rooted in reality, I have the album and it is a coherent whole, a real golden nugget from an unsung master. I thank Mac for keeping the spirit of the Small Faces alive with his voice, his B3 and the enthusiasm his band plays with (I've seen 'em 6 times--7 tonight at the Austin Convention Hall).
    Go Mac!
