  • DavidMedsker · 3 months ago
Can you tell I was running out of album cover ideas? This one will be over in 20 minutes.

All guesses are correct, except for The White Album.
  • DavidMedsker · 3 months ago
    Air Supply is incorrect.
  • luffy66 · 3 months ago
Damn- 50/50 shot should have went with fist impressions

    9. Bread - Anthology

    Bread is correct.
  • ATM Kid · 3 months ago
    2. Blur - Best of
Puzzle : David Bowie - Best of 1969/1974

Or David Bowie - Best of 1974/1979
  • didyouevernotice · 3 months ago
    2. Blur s/t
    3. Motley Crue - not sure of the album
    6. Flaming Lips - Soft Bulletin
    17. The Cure - Distintegration
    19. Prince - Dirty Mind
    24. Stones - Hot Rocks
  • DavidMedsker · 3 months ago
Max three guesses per turn, please. And I hate to say this, but the only one you got right was the Stones.
  • ozarkmatt · 3 months ago
Well, The Beatles - The Beatles was an obvious guess when first seeing the “picture” of the puzzle, but it doesn’t fit the theme. So, I will say it’s the part of the “Shaved Fish” by John Lennon cover up by the title.
  • arensb · 3 months ago
should have went with fist impressions

Hey, careful where you swing that fist!
  • luffy66 · 3 months ago

  • ATM Kid · 3 months ago
Hey David, I wonder why there ain't no "Carry on up the chart" featured?
  • ATM Kid · 3 months ago
And 18. is Eagles' Their Greatest Hits.
  • DavidMedsker · 3 months ago
Blur, the Kinks, the Pixies, the Rolling Stones, and Echo & the Bunnymen are correct. The puzzle cover is not David Bowie or John Lennon.

As for Carry On Up the Charts, that's an import, right?
  • ATM Kid · 3 months ago
Yeah, I don't know this since I'm overseas. Did a band with best-selling competition album in UK really recieve nothing status in US?
  • ATM Kid · 3 months ago
Oops, I mean compilation. (Sorry for my darn poor English.)
  • DavidMedsker · 3 months ago
Hey, my wife plays the daylights out of that album, but the Beautiful South were never more than a cult band in the States, I'm afraid.

I will admit that I'm using only US releases for the sake of simplicity. Which is a drag, because that renders a lot of my favorite albums ineligible. (Ahem, Dubstar's Disgraceful)
  • JerryM · 3 months ago
I'm pretty sure it got a US release, complete with a sticker advertising it as "The UK's 3rd fastest selling album ever!" But apparently, nobody bought it over here but me and your wife.
  • DavidMedsker · 3 months ago
You're right, it's available for $9.49 as a download on Amazon. My bad.

  • ATM Kid · 3 months ago
Well, another try for the Puzzle Cover. I second Depeche Mode's "The Singles 1981 - 1985".
  • DavidMedsker · 3 months ago
Elton John is correct. Depeche Mode is incorrect.
  • ozarkmatt · 3 months ago
I never realized how many of these types of albums have areas of pure white on the cover!

    Puzzle: Joni Mitchell - Hits

    12, Queen> Greatest Hits
  • drxl · 3 months ago
    19. INXS: The greatest hits

    25: Supergrass is 10
  • arensb · 3 months ago
    Ah, that's an equals sign.
At first, it looked like a pause button, seen sideways, so I thought it might be Bauhaus's "Press Eject and Give Me the Tape".
  • ozarkmatt · 3 months ago
    #20 Bad Company - 10 from 6
  • DavidMedsker · 3 months ago
Supergrass and Bad Company are correct. Only a few more...

  • arensb · 3 months ago
BTW, is it too early to submit guesses for Cover Me, Game 41? Because I recognize #4 and #6 from the images that were (mis-?)posted some days ago.
  • DavidMedsker · 2 months ago
I might scrap it entirely, since the damn puzzle cover's already been solved.
  • drxl · 2 months ago
Sorry about that. Bu tit would be a shame that you did. Can we agree, those of us who already know some of the answers, not to submit them so that others can play?
  • DavidMedsker · 2 months ago
It's all right, you guys didn't know it was an accident. I would have played too if I had seen it up on the site. We're still not sure how it went live like that.

I'm not scrapping it, but I may change the puzzle cover, since you already figured it out. :)
  • drxl · 2 months ago
No clues on 6, 13 and 14 yet?
  • WHarrisBullzEye · 2 months ago
    6. Icehouse, "Great Southern Land"
    14. The Jam, "Greatest Hits"
  • DavidMedsker · 2 months ago
Icehouse and the Jam are correct. One left, and it's a doozy. One of the best best-ofs I own. Sadly, the band called it a day shortly after its release, but the lead singer is still chugging out the new stuff in various incarnations...
  • DavidMedsker · 2 months ago
The last cover, by the way, is:

Guided by Voices, Human Amusements at Hourly Rates
