Popdose: Dw. Dunphy On… Drawing

Great post DW. Al Williamson's EC work helped define that whole Weird Science/Fantasy style. Way ahead of his time as far as Sci Fi comic art goes. Lucas HAD to have been a fan of those comics...

One can see that sense of foreboding in the snowglobe drawing, the darker colors coming in like a storm... And the snowman seems to be trying to keep his balance and looking right into the holder's eyes, as if to say, "You may be holding up my world, buddy, but who's holding up yours?"

A side note that only just occurred to me: I was a fairly decent drawer at a young age. I can remember being able to draw monsters, spaceships and superheroes pretty well, but all my friends asked me, first and foremost, if I would draw naked women for them. I always resisted. Call it some twisted principles, or a need for propriety, or whatever, but it seems hilarious to me that I was only maybe thirteen at the time and was already being propositioned to "sell out".

Nice post there! I'm sure comics are still in today especially those who love to draw are still interested in it.
