Love the Duffy album so I'm looking forward to hearing Adele. I still don't get why, in this digital age, that records released in England take so long to reach the U.S. It was the same issue with the Duffy record. With everything becoming so web based, how is it possible that a person in Europe and a person in California can't own the same record at the same time. Yet another example of how the record industry shoots itself in the foot.

I reviewed that Adele record for Bullz-Eye back in April. Is it really just coming out now?

I had the same question because I got the album in May and put "Right as Rain" in a Mix Six.

I recommend the Midnight Facilities remix of Hometown Glory

Ben Folds has done far better, but not lately. Way to Normal is promising, but it doesn't hook you like anything Ben Folds Five did, which makes me think the other fellows in the band contributed more than just bass and drums. They added character, something that's been missing for several years. Make no mistake, this album is a lot more listenable than Silverman, but only just (although I'd add the catchy and weird Dr. Yang to your list).

Marillion, on the other hand, is going to be brilliant. Again. I declined their free downloads, being of the generation that likes shiny, round things, and I'm kicking the shit out of my mailbox daily for not having my Special Edition waiting for me in its solemn confines. It's going to be That Good.

Same here. They had to post the album as a preemptive strike, but it kills them to do so. I'd rather wait for my big bookset. I still believe music is more than just the music, if you know what I mean...

I do. That's why Marillion albums are always worth the wait for the full deal. They have made it a life's work, and a passion, and that makes all the difference. Anyone who has ever wondered what's the big deal about Marillion ought to check out Happiness Is the Road... whenever it lands in my damned mailbox.

Good to see some love thrown Marillion's way!

While I agree that Way to Normal is disjointed and only half good, there are a couple of songs that I like so much they make my best of 2008 list. 'You Don't Know Me' has an incredible groove and 'Bitch Went Nuts' is reminiscent of a rock musical score (doesn't the intro sound a little like something from Rocky Horror?). Frankly, it's time for Ben Folds to segue into musical theatre...and I'll be right here to direct his musical as soon as he's ready. Ben- email me...molly@theatreiseasy.com...seriously, let's work on this, it'll be huge.
