You mean we won't get to see Jeff and Jason in skin-tight spandex and flowing capes? I want my money back ...

    Nice Guster selection, BTW.

Please don't give them ideas like that. They don't need your help thinking of more ways to portray themselves as a couple.

The "Jason and Jeff sing the hits of Ashford and Simpson" compilation is mere weeks away.

The power of your list propelled my latest Wolf Parade download so hard back into my chest that it cracked a rib. Huzzah!

do you have a top ten for 2007?

No Top 10 list for me, thanks. I'm a staunch believer that there's no such thing as an honest Top 10 list, regardless of the subject.

You invariably find yourself making selections based on what you feel your audience expects of you (seriously, do you really expect some cat from the Village Voice to namecheck anything that isn't already hipster-approved?), or going against the grain call attention to yourself for being a bad-ass outsider who dances to his own drum.

Quite frankly. even if I was able to come up with an honest year-end list, it would be rendered obsolete five minutes later because music is always so of-the-moment with me.

Yeah, year-end lists are often like overhearing the cool kids table in high school, only that you're polling the opinions of high school kids, so you deserve to be stuck in your adult years with a copy of the Dirty Dancing soundtrack. Serves ya right for not thinking with your own skull.

Personally, I enjoyed Porcupine Tree's "Fear Of A Blank Planet" and awful lot and think Springsteen's "Magic" is his best in many, many moons. Where are they?

And finally... Here's my hipster license for you to proudly revoke. I did not get Animal Collecitve's "Strawberry Jam" whatsoever.

nice to see you back jefito!

i like what was said here about the top ten lists all being the same and relying on hipness over anything else. i hope you all like the amy winehouse album in spite of this, though. i really think she's one of the best new voices and interesting characters around, and she also comes highly recommended by graham parker. that's good enough for me. i got back to black for christmas and i think it's really, really good.

lastly, i wish nick lowe's ' at my age' would have made some lsits and got some more attention. it was one of the best reviewed on metacritic last year though.

Loved the fact that you threw in live versions of many of these songs!

One record I can't believe I haven't seen on any year end top ten is the Felice Brothers' Tonight at the Arizona. Very cool record. As Kurt Loder would say, "Do check it out."

Ah, "At My Most Beautiful": the reason "Up" has stayed in my CD collection for as long as it has.
