Hey, I have one of those mix tapes that had "Ponce de Leon" on it! Forgot how great this song is.

Thanks for posting the Bacharach cover, too. Always loved that.

I loved both Greenberry Woods albums but lost track of the brothers Huseman after that group dissolved. I'm just now discovering Splitsville. Not sure what took me so long! Thanks Will. Outstanding interview.

Davy, I didn't include it within the interview itself because it's not written in stone, but I will mention here in the comments that, per Brandt, there is a very real chance that 2009 will be a very good year for Greenberry Woods fans. Now that he's been hanging with Ira and Miles again, they've been listening to a bunch of live material from the band's heyday, and the possibility of an album being culled from that stuff is very real indeed.

They have a few unreleased (or at least non-LP) studio tracks as well. < http://wilfullyobscure.blogspot.com/2008/08/gre... >
It would be great to see them get an official release!

Thank you -- and curse you -- for showing me this huge, gaping hole in my music collection.

    Off to Amazon ...

If you're looking for Splitsville's entire catalogue, make sure you check out CDBaby.com while you're shopping around.

This site has the lowest prices available (for the most part), and the download prices are very reasonable also.

Plus, it's a great site with a ton of indie music.

Excellent interview, Will, Brandt, and Matt.

I love it when the Popdose crew calls attention to bands as deserving as Splitsville (and The Greenberry Woods).

Great interview! But I'm glaring at Matt over the internet for trying to restart the "definition of power pop" thread! ;-)

I'll confirm that Amateur Hour is really great. They gave me a copy years and years ago when I wrote about them, and it not only holds up, it gets better with age.

Heard it on the Pandora "Ben Folds Five" channel too. That's actually why I looked this up. Good stuff!
