You can trust Wikipedia on this one.... they did win the Knockout Award at MTV Asia Awards 2008, I know for sure coz I worked on that show.

My nieces have been great fans since their first album; I heard a couple of their tracks back then & thought they were pretty good. However, I became a fan since working with them at the MTV EXIT concerts at Angkor Wat & Phnom Penh. They are such great musicians (each & everyone of them), truly talented and just such down to earth guys.

I'm looking forward to the new album as I'm already hooked to a couple of the songs.

Thanks for the heads up about Tinted Windows. I had heard about the group but hadn't sought out the music. What's not to like with one quarter each of Fountains of Wayne, Cheap Trick, Hanson and Smashing Pumpkins? The normal answer would be Smashing Pumpkins, but I can stand James Iha as long as Billy Corgan isn't involved.

It's funny that you posted this this week...a drummer I rehearse with just passed a copy of their 2nd cd to me last week! They'll be doing several 'in residence' gigs at NYC, Philly and Boston in March for three consecutive weekends to work out new tunes and bring on special guests each nite...should make for some great shows!

Dead right about the whole 'guilty pleasures' thing. If you're really into music, sure, you might be a little embarrassed to admit some of your less culturally rewarding examples, but you're not so wrapped up in the mist of 'coolness' to need to qualify yourself.

These guys are easily the best guilty pleasure in recent history. I still play their first CD quite a bit, and I bought the second one on the strength of "Jenny" alone. I was disappointed that they didn't take off, but as you indicated they were marketed more as a "tween" band than a "power pop" band. A stint as opening act for Ashlee Simpson didn't help, especially since it was around the time of her SNL lip-sync fiasco. It's a shame because they are talented (if memory serves they met at the Berklee College of Music in Boston). Better management and career advice might have put them on a much bigger trajectory.
