    Awesome! Enjoyed this article. Thanks for the update on the reunion. I always enjoyed Squirrel Nut Zippers for many of the same reasons I enjoy Basement Jaxx (yes, leaving music genres wholly out of picture) -- the music is distinctly different and timeless, yet you always know the band that created it.

    The audio files are accessible now, BTW. As you may have read, we've been having some server headaches here at Popdose HQ, so audio and images have been disappearing at random. Things should improve soon, though - thanks for your kind forbearance.

    As a regular reader, occasional poster, just thought I would share. For what it is worth, lindy hop and swing has kept going since the 1990s, some weekly dances still draws hundreds each week.

    But, in general, swing and lindy, it is just more underground and the music of choice is more classic in nature (ranging from the 1930s to bands that recreate old sounds, pretty much trace the career of Count Basie to get an idea of the scope of musical variety).

    Bands like the Squirrel Nut Zippers, et al, were essentially "gateway drugs" for a lot of people.

    Chances are, if you are in a decent size city, there is a swing and lindy scene lurking the shadows.

    Yup, this is very true. I know lots of people who go to swing dances.

    Agreed! I think swing (neo or otherwise) is a kind of music that attracts people who like it because the dances take some skill and, well, it's fun to get dressed up and show off on the dance floor.
