Popdose: Into the Ear of Madness: Week 8 — Keane! (no, not that Keane)

If Keane and Alessi got into a fight, who would win?
• terje · 1 year ago
I think Keane would outmanouver Alessi by actually using their fists. Alessi only know how to pillow fight.

What if we had a battle royal with the Keane Brothers, Alessi, Nelson, and The Williams Brothers?

The Hudson Brothers can do the play by play.

I thought that was such a brilliantly bad idea that I simply had to look up the term "celebrity wrestling" on Google, and what do you know - it's coming up this fall with Tiffany (surprise!) as one of the contestants. She ought to be a pretty fair match for the Alessi Brothers, don't you think?

Sadly, I don't see any of these guys appearing on any kind of "Celebrity" show in the foreseeable future - certainly not Alessi or Keane. Too bad. Or not.

Why would you want to do that to the Williams Brothers, Carlos? All they ever did was give us the brilliantly beautiful "Can't Cry Hard Enough."

Good point my friend. I will now go back to my room and listen to the recent Eddie Money covers record as punishment.

Can I put money on The Chambers Brothers as the final victors:

Brothers Johnson might put up a good fight

They also put silly ideas into my mother's head, like knitting me sweaters with patterns like these, turning my social life into a living hell, so no, they're not so innocent.

What's the matter with the drummer's mouth. The kid is freaking me out.

I'm just not sure what to think of these, Terje... pretty awful stuff, overall. Did Foster peak after Jaye P. Morgan? The bottle blonde told me to tell you hello and requested the St. Elmo's Fire Love Theme. Don't worry; I dropped her off at Trader Vic's with cab fare.
• terje · 1 year ago
Is that the same bottle blonde he used for the video of "St. Elmo's Fire"? In her mid-50s by now? And are my ears succumbing to this endless stream of mediocrity already? I really enjoy the Dwayne Ford track. Nah, that injury was inflicted years before I started this series.

Not sure about her past, only her future: Fox news. Anyway, I didn't notice any hints as to your next feature... care to drop any clues? Also, Does Foster know you're doing this, and if so, is he letting you borrow his record collection?

What a great post. And by great I don't necessarily mean great musically, but rather what a great rock you overturned to post this. "Sherry" has memories for me because a babysitter that I had a crush on used to sing it over and over and over... one night she let me stay up late to see The Brothers perform it on their show. I think it was the first time--I was maybe six--that I saw how music could completely transform a girl. A hot one, at that.

Thanks. Yeah, it's pretty hard to find a copy of this. I don't think it's ever been released on CD, and the vinyl LP is quite rare as well. I guess those little girls from the '70s hold on real hard to their copies.

FYI, John Keane has been a successful musician, composing and creating music for CSI (the TV series). Tom has focused on developing other artists on his own record label. Let's just say that they're successful enough musicians that neither of them has been forced to take on a day job. ;-)

Also, "The Keane Brothers" was released on CD in Japan. Do some research, m'kay? Google is your friend.

@ Eric S.
"The drummer's mouth" had braces. I'd like to see you look any better with them.
