All are collaborations on record, where the prinicpals were at least ostensibly in the studio at the same time -- writing credits don't count.

One - Kylie sang "Where The Wild Roses Grow" with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
Two - Nick Cave sang "What A Wonderful World" with Shane McGowan
Three - Shane McGowan (as a member of The Pogues) sang "A Fairy Tale Of New York" with Kirsty MacColl
Four - Kirsty MacColl sang backing vocals on ... well every second song recorded in the UK in the late 1980s. But let's go with her backing vocals on "Ask", by the Smiths.
Five - Johnny Marr of The Smiths collaborated with The Pet Shop Boys on their album Release (among others).
Six - The Pet Shop Boys and Dusty Springfield collaborated on their hit "What Have I Done Do Deserve This?"
Seve - Dusty's "Dusty In Memphis" album was produced by Jerry Wexler
Eight - Jerry Wexler produced a couple of flop singles for Sam & Dave (including Ooh Ooh Ooh)
Nine - Sam Moore (of Sam and Dave) and Lou Reed recorded a duet of "Soul Man" for the quickly forgotten 1986 film, uh, "Soul Man"
Ten - Lou Reed played the guitar solos on a couple of tracks on "A Date With The Smithereens"

And if you don't like that, how about this?

One - Kylie Minogue duetted with Robbie Williams on the song "Kids"
Two - Robbie Williams drummer is Chris Sharrock, ex of The Icicle Works
Three - Richard Naiff of the recently revived version of The Icicle Works also plays keys for The Waterboys
Four - One-time Waterboy Karl Wallinger later founded World Party
Five - World Party's first album "Private Revolution" featured guest vocals from Sinead O'Connor
Six - Sinead O'Connor's first single "Herione" was a collaboration with The Edge of U2
Seven - U2's version of "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) features Darlene Love on backing vocals
Eight - Darlene Love appears on backing vocals on Marti Jones' album "Match Game"
Nine - The criminally underrated Marti Jones sings backing vocal on Marshall Crenshaw's LP "Mary Jean & Nine Others"
Ten - Marshall Crenshaw (using the alias Jerome Jerome) plays keyboards on the The Smithereens "Especially For You"

Thank you and good night.

Re: Kylie Kontest!

I'm gonna post here, I don't want another person posing as me, and writing down there address:

Caitlin Swimmer
1487 Noche Ct.
Fenton, MO 63026

I hope you don't send it to someone else! Please tell me I won something at least...

Re: Kylie Kontest!

1. Kylie Minogue collaborated with Manic Street Preachers on 'The Impossible Princess'.
2. The Manic Street Preachers song 'Your Love Alone is Not Enough' features vocals from Nina Persson.
3. Nina Persson sings the theme song to 'Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased)' (TV Serial), which was composed by David Arnold.
4. David Arnold composed the song 'The World Is Not Enough', for Garbage.
5. Garbage collaborated with Tricky on the song 'Milk (Wicked Mix)', in which Tricky provided vocals.
6. Tricky's song 'Keep Your Mouth Shut' features vocals by Bjork.
7. Bjork composed the song 'Bedtime Story' for Madonna.
8. Madonna's song 'The Power of Goodbye' is a collaboration with Rick Nowels.
9. Rick Nowels provided vocals to Belinda Carlisle's album 'Heaven on Earth'.
10. Belinda Carlisle contributes backing vocals to The Smithereens‘ 11.

Okay, I win... I hope, please don't let me down again...

Re: Kylie Kontest!

Well, let's put it this way: if someone's able to go from 1 - 10 in a different way than I've got mapped out, I'm totally willing to accept it. But the way I had it mapped out didn't involve moving from Nina Persson to Sparklehorse.

Re: Kylie Kontest!

Didn't realize there were 10 exact answers.

3. Nina Persson’s vocals also appear on 2 tracks of the Sparklehorse album "It's a Wonderful Life."

Sparklehorse can take you in a number of directions, so I'll just suggest one.

4. Sparklehorse lead singer Mark Linkous performed a cover of Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here" featuring vocals from Thom Yorke of Radiohead.

Re: Kylie Kontest!

Updated accordingly...but note that we're looking for Nina Persson specifically for the next one rather than the Cardigans as a whole.

Re: Kylie Kontest!

Okay, I'll bite again.

2. The Manic Street Preachers song "Your Love Alone is Not Enough" features vocals from Nina Persson, lead singer of The Cardigans.

3. The Cardigans recorded a duet cover of "Burning Down the House" with Tom Jones.

With Tom Jones, you can go into a number of musical directions: Tori Amos, Stereophonics, The Art of Noise, and Catatonia. Even more if you include songwriters or album producers -- though I'm not sure they count here.

Re: Kylie Kontest!

Man, that sucks, it took me a long time to find those answers, well, I hope I win...

Re: Kylie Kontest!

That is correct...and has been duly updated.

Re: Kylie Kontest!

While those do all connect at least tangentially, we're looking for actual musical collaborations, be they vocal or instrumental...and I'll go ahead and add that to the text for better clarification. Plus, to make up for it, I'll even give you the answer to the first one. :-)

Re: Kylie Kontest!

Please someone tell me that I won, I can't wait any longer, I'm losing my patience...

Re: Kylie Kontest!

1. Kylie Minogue collaborated with [David Ball] on The Impossible Princess.
2. David Ball is part of the group [Soft Cell].
3. Soft Cell's biggest hit is 'Tainted Love', which was originally by [Gloria Jones].
4. Gloria Jones did backing vocals for [Bob Dylan].
5. Bob Dylan's song 'Subterranean Homesick Blues', owed much to [Chuck Berry]'s 'Too Much Monkey Business'.
6. Chuck Berry's song 'Sweet Little Sixteen' was sampled in [The Beach Boys] song 'Surfin' USA'.
7. The Beach Boys lead songwriter, bassist, and singer is [Brian Wilson].
8. Brian Wilson is married to [Marilyn Wilson].
9. Marilyn Wilson is part of the group [The Honeys].
10. [The Honeys] contributes backing vocals to The Smithereens‘ 11.

Everything is right. Now, please I would really like that prize... ;-)

Re: Kylie Kontest!

Not terribly interested in the prize pack (though the alternative, as suggested by JS, did raise an eyebrow), but I'll get the ball rolling for someone else.

10. Belinda Carlisle contributes backing vocals to The Smithereens' 11.

Wikipedia points out a large number of Carlisle collaborators, aside from the Go-Go's: Michelle Phillips, Chynna Phillips, Carnie Wilson, Brian Wilson, Freda Payne, George Harrison, Don Henley, Andy Taylor, Thomas Dolby, Bryan Adams, and Brian Eno. Knock yourselves out.

Re: Kylie Kontest!

The way you made a point of adding those last three words (which, in my head, I could actually imagine you growling), I have to wonder if Ms. Minogue did something to you personally. If so, you could always win the contest and donate the prizes to her least-favorite charity, just to spite her.

(Am I trying too hard to get people to participate?)

Re: Kylie Kontest!

I would very much like to have sexual intercourse with Miss Minogue, but there is no way in hell I want to win this contest.
