Many thanks for this, I had never heard of Largo but love all things Bazilian/Hyman/Hooters! But the link to Gimme a Stone seems to not be working.

Dammit, I thought that was fixed already. It should be working now. Thanks for letting me know.

This is fascinating. I missed this completely--maybe because I was out of the country in the late 90s--but it's really nice to read about a truly ambitious piece of pop music.

Thanks for remembering this wonderful project. 'Hand In Mine' is also a great track from this amazing release..

Garth Hudson, Taj Mahal, The Chieftains AND Levon Helm? How the hell can you go wrong. This I gotta find!

These tracks are fantastic! I'm going to buy this album. It's a great concept, sounds wonderful. I even hear the Hooters influence, with the mandolin and melodica type bits.

I am familiar with Dvorak but didn't know the story of New World Symphony. That kicks ass. Kids who take piano lessons end up learning various incarnations of Largo along the way. Now I know why it's so popular (besides the fact that it's a great melody).

Thanks so much for sharing this!

Thanks for letting me know, Elaine! It isn't often I get to cover a cutout I love -- I'm glad others are enjoying it, too...

I got this album out of a freebie bin in an indy record store back in 1998. The label on the disk says "Advance Music," so it was clearly a promo someone dumped in the bin.

On the first listen, I knew it was something special. This is an amazing, rare and unusual musical project: don't think too hard - just buy it.
