I always hope to hear this on Sirius on one of the alt stations or 80's..never seem to hear it..I love this tune. Again, thanks for sharing and great post!

Re: Lost in the ’80s: The Fixx, “Deeper and Deeper”

As grateful as I am for allowing me to own this tune (Ultimate Collection is on my perpetual gotta-get-one-day list), I must take you to task for dismissing "I Can Dream About You" as schlocky. Listen to it again late one Saturday night after a few drinks. You'll come around.

Re: Lost in the ’80s: The Fixx, “Deeper and Deeper”

This is one of my favorite Fixx tracks. I thought it was odd that it was on Streets of Fire, but it did balance out the over the top Steinman tunes - which at the time I thought were pretty awesome.

Re: Lost in the ’80s: The Fixx, “Deeper and Deeper”

Definitely underrated and I was missing this song - thanks!

Re: Lost in the ’80s: The Fixx, “Deeper and Deeper”

The Fixx are generally underrated (disclosure: I feel the same way about A Flock Of Seagulls) and I own pretty much all their 45's. Great finding this neglected track on the single mentioned above, especially as it runs 5-6 minutes there. Dark, shimmering, and funky. Thanks for the Fixx love.

Re: Lost in the ’80s: The Fixx, “Deeper and Deeper”

STREETS OF FIRE--up and down as a movie but a killer soundtrack. Was it really 25 years ago?

Re: Lost in the ’80s: The Fixx, “Deeper and Deeper”

I was pretty young when that soundtrack came out, and it was one of the first tapes I got from the BMG music club. I still like all the songs, Steinman-ized or not - I have never seen the movie.

I just saw the Fixx here in Virginia earlier this month - I heard them soundcheck “Deeper and Deeper”, then they opened with it. They still sound good.
