Popdose: Lost MP3 of the Week: The Dismemberment Plan, “The First Anniversary of Your Last Phone Call”

Ha! Good story. I loved the Dismemberment Plan -- I still think they were the greatest rock band since the Pixies, and only Sleater-Kinney come close for me -- and of course possibly their best known song is another holiday song ("The Ice of Boston", set on New Year's Eve).

My wife and I saw the two shows the Dismemberment Plan did in New York on their breakup tour -- completely different sets except both of them had "OK Joke's Over" as an encore; I think it totaled 37 songs, which was almost all of them -- and it's a central memory for both of us of the early days of our relationship.

    Wow, that's awesome!

I went to the Seattle show on that tour, and I ended up getting on stage and having a long dialogue with Travis because I had made a shirt that said "Pretentious" or something on it.

I also went to one of their reunion shows in D.C. awhile ago, which was really great - although I think I liked the break-up tour show better :-x
