Those remixes on the Thriller 25 disc truly got me riled up. It was desperate and grubby. Of his collaborators, only Kanye will be notable 25 years from now, definitely not for this "remix". Akon? will.I.am? Ech.

Nobody would fault negative commentary if Kanye threw a bunch of "uh-huh, yeah" all over Sgt. Pepper's. That someone thought doing it to Thriller was a good idea: I'll say it again. Ech!

I have to admit, that past the early J5 singles, I was never a big Michael Jackson fan. However, I did get a chance to hear the "Thriller" re-release and the thing that struck me most was how much his home demo if "Billie Jean" showed that the track was pretty much fully formed when he brought it into the studio. I really never had a clue how much of what he did was him, and how much of it was a producer helping him flesh out some ideas.

That said...I think it is pretty funny that he dubbed himself the "King of Pop" and it actually stuck! After 20+ years of weirdness, it is hard to remember how much of a force he once was....maybe eventually the weirdness will fall away and only the artistry will be remembered...

I do like the "Childhood" song. I think that's the first time I've heard it. The video does make me sad, but for different reasons. The person on film singing the song is some sort of freakish character. I would have really enjoyed the audio with no context around it, but seeing what Michael had become makes it impossible for me to enjoy the video on its own merits. Many people are comparing Michael's death to that of Elvis. While Elvis may changed and put on some weight, he didn't alienate the public the way Michael did. It pains me to say it, but while I will always enjoy the music, I lost Michael Jackson as an artist a long time ago.

However any one may feel about any and all allegations about Michael, noone, I mean noone can ever diminish the importance of what he brought to music.

I can't say that I'm a "big" fan of Michaels; I'm a few years younger than he is and other singers have had a bigger impact on my musical choices but it would be wrong of me to say that he didn't bring a smile and a jump in my footsteps with his music.

God bless you Michael; thank you for having brought us the music into our lives; we will continue to listen to it.

Excellently written.. Michaels Music was the sound track of our lives growing up in the 80's .. They dont make artist like Michael anymore..His death was the of an era. Wht they make these days..dont blw me away like the artist of the 60/70/80 You had to actually HAVE TALENT back then. Today, you just have to know someone and look cute

P Diddy had very precisely described the genius of Michael Jackson: "He showed that you can actually see the beat. He made the music come to life. He made me believe in magic."
