This version of "The Long Road" (Pearl Jam has one, too) is one of the finest recordings from the 90's. During the film, when this song is played, I can't watch without crying my eyes out.

I've never heard the Pearl Jam version, and I suspect if I did, I would be disappointed. And I must be a hard-hearted person because while I found Dead Man Walking a powerful film, I wasn't brought to tears.
