I used to live in Philly, so I still check out the local media (radio and newspaper). I'm streaming "My 106.1" right now, and it's pretty good. I'm hearing some deeper cuts than most program directors would take chances on. Nice.

It's actually this - a little more than just new soul and 70s and 80s funk, but a great mix this morning - Chris Brown, John Legend, Lisa Lisa, Starpoint, Freda Payne....

No, Power 99 I remember - there was something up higher on the dial - 104-ish I believe. I'll have to go hunting for it today and see if I can locate what it is now.

Love the mix. I'm a big PM Dawn fan. You wouldn't think that their rap lite (or Lyte) would fit in so well, but it works great.

There used to be a station in the Philadelphia area that mixed the new soul with late 70's/early 80's funk. It might still be there as I don't listen to radio much anymore, but I think it's gone. Either way, Best. Station. Ever.

It just goes to show you how awesome LL Cool J is. When gangster rap was on the rise, he decided to show everyone how it's done, then he went back to singing about all the booty he was scoring in the backseat of his car. This version of the song is ferocious!

I've been looking for that version for ... well, a long time. Someone posted a You Tube clip, but the song faded out, and people in the comments were ripping MTV for not making the whole song available.

And then...

On Saturday, I found the song on MTV's site.
