I had never heard that song! Those strings were sampled (and chopped and sped up) in the track Plastic Operator -Why Don't You (Jesse Rose & Oliver $ Remix) They used them in a breakdown, Recognized them as soon as I heard them! Very Nice!

Can you post a link to the Plastic Operator song? I'd love to hear it.

I had pretty much given up on Tears for Fears after Elemental
was released. That said, I really liked this song.

Raoul was a much better album than Elemental, though still spotty. Regardless, this song and "Secrets" both got massive tape deck time in my car.

There are some good moments on Raoul, but I will say, despite the absence of Curt Smith, Elemental is a fantastic record from start to finish.

Raoul and the Kings of Spain is a brilliant work of Not From Around Here music. The only problem on it is the single, God's Mistake, where Roland left the click track on. Well, that and it didn't follow Seeds of Love... Elemental did, and that was one of those Finding Your Way albums. Orzabel was pushing for maturity all along, and Seeds of Love had plenty of it. Elemental did, too, but in a dreadfully boring way. Raoul made a remarkable musical statement, but by that time the audience had left the building. Good choice, David. Me and My Big Ideas is plain terrific.

Not sure you're completely correct about Raoul, it's not all that bad. I do think it is a bit bland in sound compared to earlier work. I also like a lot of Elemental.

But Me and My Big Ideas, you are certainly correct about. It is a terrific song and you really do feel the burden of sadness as the song starts - it seems to drag itself along.

    Nice one.
