18 Squeeze "Up the Junction," possibly?
  • Rich · 1 year ago
I'm liking MatthewBolin's "Free Your Mind" for 17, as it makes it clear what the last word of the clue is, I think...

  • drcastrato · 1 year ago
yeah but now Jerry is responsible for putting it in all of our heads. ugh
  • drcastrato · 1 year ago
actually, looks like it was Rich
  • Jerry · 1 year ago
I'm glad we cleared that up. I'll take the blame for many things, but I wouldn't wish song poisoning by Richard Marx on my worst enemy.
  • Scraps · 1 year ago
    Er, I mean Rich.
  • Brian Ibbott · 1 year ago
    5. Run-Around - Blues Traveler

    Puzzle Song (26)
  • Dr. Corndog · 1 year ago
    4. Please Mr. Postman - The Marvelettes
    12. Yes We Can Can - The Pointer Sisters
  • Michael Davies · 1 year ago
#15 - Evenflow by Pearl Jam?

I was thinking Stone Temple Pilots first, but then realized that I was thinking of "Vasoline", which would cause the puzzle to make no sense.
  • Dr. Corndog · 1 year ago
    15. Animal - Pearl Jam
  • nhmehta · 1 year ago
No song guesses, but the acrostic could be SURPRISING LADS (or LADY) OF FURNITURE.
  • Eric · 1 year ago
If the earlier guess on #12 is correct, then that wouldn't fit.

Assuming #12 is correct, maybe something like this?

    SURPRISINGLY DEAF FURNITURE
  • Michael Davies · 1 year ago
It is "Animal"! right about 1 minute into the song.

Serves me right for not bothering to listen to the YouTube videos for all of the hits starting with vowels from Pearl Jam's first two albums. Also, doing so would have let me know that "Even Flow" is two words, not one.
  • Michael Davies · 1 year ago
    "Animal" is definitely right.

    It's definitely SURPRISINGLY DEAF FURNITURE.

And therefore the song is "I Am, I Said" by Neil Diamond.
  • Eric · 1 year ago
Nicely done. You know, I thought of that song briefly when I was thinking of furniture related songs, but I didn't make the lyrical connection and dismissed it.
  • Scraps · 1 year ago
Fast game! And well done, Michael Davies, "I Am I Said" by Neil Diamond is the answer to the puzzle.

I believe if you send an email to jefito at popdose dot com, he will have a prize for you.
  • Michael Davies · 1 year ago
Game over? but we still haven't gotten all the songs yet.

Since I didn't identify any of the songs correctly, do I really deserve a prize?

(although I did listen to "I Am, I Said" to make sure it had solo acoustic guitar like that)
  • Scraps · 1 year ago
Whoever identifies the puzzle song correctly gets the prize, and that means you.

The game's still going till we get all the songs, yep. But you've "won" already.
  • Scraps · 1 year ago
    Also all correct:

Please Mr Postman - The Marvelettes
    Animal - Pearl Jam
Yes We Can Can - Pointer Sisters
  • Pat · 1 year ago
    #2 - Alan O'Day - Undercover Angel
  • Scraps · 1 year ago
Undercover Angel - Alan O'Day is correct.
  • Scraps · 1 year ago

    14 E Everlovin' - Ricky Nelson
  • Michael Davies · 1 year ago
    19. The Rock & Roll Waltz - Kay Starr

(didn't know there was an actual hit version of this song until now)
  • Michael Davies · 1 year ago
er, I guess it's just "Rock and Roll Waltz"
  • Michael Davies · 1 year ago
    3. Real, Real, Real - Jesus Jones
  • Joy · 1 year ago
Oh! by the way, at least for me, the file is missing for #25. :-)
  • Scraps · 1 year ago
That's weird; 25 is playing fine for me.

    Correct:
Rock & Roll Waltz - Kay Starr (which was not just a hit, but a #1 hit)
Real, Real, Real - Jesus Jones

    Incorrect:
    Everlovin' - Ricky Nelson
  • Joy · 1 year ago
I got it to work now! Yay! As for my incorrect: dangit!! ;-)
  • Michael Davies · 1 year ago
I can't even think of a "highly successful cover band". Especially one that sounds like it's from the late 60's.

The Animals? The Rascals? But the song is not ringing a bell.
  • forwardgirl · 1 year ago
is #25 Easy To Be Hard by 3 Dog Night?
  • Scraps · 1 year ago
"Easy To Be Hard" by Three Dog Night is correct.

    Three to go.
  • Scraps · 1 year ago
Here are longer clips of the three remaining songs:

    longer clip 7

    longer clip 10

    longer clip 14
  • Scraps · 1 year ago
Ah, hell, the tags give them away, and I don' see any way to delete the comment.

    Well, thanks for playing, everybody!
  • Joy · 1 year ago
I might be technologically inept, here, but unless all of the remaining songs are called "Longer," I can't figure them out... Where are these 'tags' of which you speak? :-)
  • Scraps · 1 year ago
That's weird; here in the Disqus threads, I don't see the giveaway tags, but on the Popdose page for the post, the names and titles show up when you click on the link.
  • forwardgirl · 1 year ago
I'm not seeing the giveaway tags on either page, and #7 is driving me crazy...
  • forwardgirl · 1 year ago
Hot damn, my brain has had enough of that clip, I think #7 is the Backstreet Boys, but I'm not sure if it's Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely or Shape of my Heart. I'm leaning toward Show Me The Meaning?
  • Scraps · 1 year ago
    You are correct.
  • Scraps · 1 year ago
That's weird; here in the Disqus threads, I don't see the giveaway tags, but on the Popdose page for the post, the names and titles show up when you click on the link.
  • Old_Davy · 1 year ago
If the game is still going, then #10 is Go Back by Crabby Appleton
  • Old_Davy · 1 year ago
Oh, and I also do not see the giveaway tags of which you speak <?>.
  • Scraps · 1 year ago
    "Go Back" is correct.

Next time I screw up I'll just soldier on.
