Great thoughts, style and call to action. I would be front stage and center if Obama were speaking locally...I confess to be experiencing DTs and will move immediatly from this page to the recommended FIX!

Re: Political Culture: Redefining “Bread and Circuses”

I'm hopeful too but his choice of chief of staff doesn't jive at all with his talk of "bringing everyone together" and being bipartisan. Let's hope he makes better choices soon

Re: Political Culture: Redefining “Bread and Circuses”

I certainly hope a publisher compiles his speeches and puts them out in a book. I believe it would be a bestseller.

Re: Political Culture: Redefining “Bread and Circuses”

First off, thanks for the linky love! Second, in today's paper, I was reading that Obama is going to use his web 2.0 network in a big way to communicate with Americans. You Tube might be one of the ways he plans on by-passing the broadcast media to reach out to people and keep them up to date on what's going on in D.C.

But you're absolutely right about where he shines: in front of people. He's not good at the in-studio podium speech, but he really lights up when he's got a crowd in front of him to speak to. If there's a way to marry his web 2.0 plan with live audiences, then I think he may have an effective way to keep people energized and engaged in the day-to-day stuff of politics.
