Or, as I like to think of him, the Bez before there was Bez.

Re: Pop Goes the World: “Ruby Trax,” Disc 1

Oh yeah, their "Boy in the bubble" cover was terrible, but I liked their version of "Sweet Jane"

The one time I saw them live made me a big fan. I just loved that they had that spastic guy dancing all over the place. Langley introduced him by saying something like, "We just pay him so he doesn't sleep on our couch."

Re: Pop Goes the World: “Ruby Trax,” Disc 1

Must agree. They're a fantastic band, especially live, but Langley's delivery really only works with his own material. Their cover of Paul Simon's "Boy In The Bubble" was just painful.

Re: Pop Goes the World: “Ruby Trax,” Disc 1

I don't know Reeve's sense of humor well enough, so I was not amused when I heard his track. "Belgian police....what the hell is this?" :)

Re: Pop Goes the World: “Ruby Trax,” Disc 1

I'm probably one of the biggest Blue Aeroplanes apologists and I have to say that you're spot on. That song just didn't work.

Re: Pop Goes the World: “Ruby Trax,” Disc 1

Sweeet... I bought this when it came out. Back when I also used to buy NME once in a while. They had already made a hit and miss compilation much in the same fashion with the Last Temptation of Elvis tribute a year or so before.
And for the record: I think one of the best things on this album is Billy Bragg.. That and the Manic Street Preachers. Oh, and Vic Reeves of course, who actually covered a #2 hit.
Just wait for disc 3. LOL
