Wow, Giant gets high marks for the Owsley disc. Forgot that they put that one out. They get the subsequent thumbs down for doing nothing to promote it. Of course, this statement assumes that they did anything to promote ANY of their releases. We know the answer to that one.

The new songs from the Wired DJ podcast are interesting. At first it was kind of strange hearing Dolby trying his hand at bluegrass, but I like it more each time I hear it. Imogen Heap on jaw harp is a hoot!

Dolby rules. I kind of consider him and Karl Wallinger similar dudes, one on the guitar, one on synths: Big thinkers, appreciative of culture that came before...aware of politics. One man bands with immense talent to compose, arrange, and perform the whole thing if need be (and produce). WHile the end product isn't always perfect, I give these guys tons of credit for innovation and putting themselves out there.

He's working on a new album, is re-realeasing his old albums (cleaned up and with extra tracks), and there's a new singles collection out now. That, and he keeps a fairly active blog on what's going on with his music and such. :)

Sorry. I blocked out that there were multiple albums from AS while they (AS) refused to put "Just As I Am" out on a proper CD....until the "Ultimate" anthology was released, that is. I guess at least Revolution brought us new albums from Big Head Todd and the Monsters and (I believe) Kenny Wayne Shepherd, to make up for the AS bullshit that Giant served to our unwelcoming ears.

"Album"? Au contraire, mon frere. Air Supply was releasing albums on Giant until the bitter end -- I think they even had product coming out through the label after it changed its name to Revolution.

I'd like to punch everyone that ever worked at Giant in the face for that Air Supply album. The Mcdermott and Dolby releases made up for the AS. Kind of.

Giant was the most schizoid boutique label in the history of boutique labels. Color Me Badd, Thomas Dolby, Michael McDermott...and Air Supply? They made SBK look like Blue Note.

Loved this album. It was my favorite Dolby disc, next to Aliens Ate My Buick....

I Love You Goodbye was pretty deep stuff for me at the age that I heard this album....I guess I hadn't said goodbye to nearly enough folks yet at that point...that would come later...
