Have the links expired? Is there any way they can be renewed or something? It's only been 6 weeks since the posting date...

Re: Pop Goes the World: Tribe, “Sleeper”

Sometime I'm just too overwhelmed with work to read my favorite magazine... Sorry.

Re: Pop Goes the World: Tribe, “Sleeper”

So you didn't listen to the songs I posted two weeks ago? If not, then you're missing out. That album flat-out kills. And damn, I just deleted the files yesterday.

Re: Pop Goes the World: Tribe, “Sleeper”

My good friend from Boston recorded a tape for me of Tribe's first album, HATH, and I immediately loved it. The girl's voice was very distinct. I ended up picking up "Abort" on CD at a record and tape show at a Holiday Inn, or something, in DC. I remember it was packaged in the old long cardboard boxes that they used for CDs. I was thrilled to have it on CD, but I never understood why my CD was missing the two tracks from the tape, "Pinwheels" (one of my faves), "Lemmings" and the tracks were all in different order. I still have the two tracks marked on my tape as the ones I don't have on CD. Is there much difference between the tracks that are on both CDs? Anyway, I then found "Sleeper" a year or so later in a used record store in DC. I like it too, very much. But I do agree, it's not as good as the first. Thanks for the links to the original HATH. Another obscure desire satisfied!

Re: Pop Goes the World: Tribe, “Sleeper”

I've heard of this band, but never really listened to them. And after listening to the songs you included in your post, I think they are pretty good. But I suppose me saying that is a bit like listening to "Pretenders II" before listening to the Pretenders first album. One is jaw-dropping great, and the other is, as Larry David would say, "Pretty good. Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good."
