Popdose: PopDose Interview: Martin Fry of ABC

I could've sworn I saw Smokey introduce the tribute to him on a teevee show. Maybe the short-lived CBS version of 'Top of the Pops'?

I remember that show quite fondly. But maybe it was one of those deals where they weren't in the same place at the same time, with Smokey recording the intro earlier. Or, then again, maybe Martin's memory is just failing him. It could go either way, methinks...

Good piece, Will. I'd love to see the band launch into "Bite the Hand" live. That'd be awesome.

Fantastic. I wish he'd done "That Was Then..." when I saw him in L.A.!

I have to say that when I heard you were doing this interview I thought, "the dude from ABC, who gives a shit?" But Will, this was one of the best interviews I've read in awhile. Not only were the questions excellent, but Fry seemed like a really lovely chap. Now I'm going to have "That Was Then..." stuck in my head all day.

    Bravo, my friend.

...and in PopDose-ville, they say Will Harris's small ego grew three sizes that day!

This is a great interview, Will. Now you'll have to join Martin and Tony Hadley on their next trek, in Belize, where the three of you can reminisce about New Romantic girls. (Does Belize still exist?)

Masterful job, Will. I think he really appreciated the fact that you did your research and asked questions about songs that aren't part of the "hits" collection.

Awesome interview Will. I can't believe I'm not actually attending that regeneration tour!

Great interview. Thanks so much. Martin does seem like a really nice guy and very appreciative of his fans. There is some talk of him doing the orchestral version of 'Lexicon' like he did in Canada early this year. That would be amazing.

On a related note, if anyone has a set list for that Canadian orchestral show, I'd love to find out what he played. He indicated that he performed several songs that he'd never done live before, but I didn't think to ask for clarification as to which ones.
