Popdose: The Cassingle Vault: Shakespear’s Sister, “Stay”

You know, I think this is the first time I've ever heard a song by this duo. The first part of "Stay" is actually quite nice. It's just when Siobahn starts to sing and act weird in the video, the song really loses me. This CAN'T be the same woman walking around NYC in overalls with her gal pals throwing Bananas at cops while singing about how cruel the summer is, right?

You´r right that they were probably a real "girls band".
They had one really good song "Dirty Mind", which got a bombastic 12" treatment by Duncan Bridgeman. They are singing about "faces thin as creditcards and records with cheap effects", and about washing their sins away. The 7" mix is pretty average, but its all about the remix.
They didn´t last very long, no?!

You're right, this song and video are terrifying, but I freaking love it. It boggles my mind that this was a Top Five hit, but I'm not complaining.

Thanks for this. I've been searching awhile through the less-costly channels for this mp3. I went ahead and watched the Youtube video again for the first time in years, and I came to the realization that Bono's Macphisto character from all those pop-type tours is directly copped from Siobahn's here, down to the sequined pelvic thrusts and pancaked make-up. scary indeed, forshame Paul Hewson, respect is due.

I used to LOVE this song, and heard it playing in the grocery store last week. After I hadn't heard it in years! It took me back to teen angst and Love's Baby Soft.
