Popdose: The Producers: Just for Kix, Loading LA Guns, and Scolding Billy Idol

Blow my Fuse was actually Kix's fourth album, not their first.

I think Tom meant it was HIS first Kix album, not theirs.
  • tom werman · 4 months ago
Yes -- I don't think I referred to it as their first, but rather their "breakthrough" LP. which does imply that they had released albums previously. Thanks

I always thought the vocals for Kix always sounded "funny." A lisp. Well damn, I never guessed that.

And I will put "Don't Close Your Eyes" up there with "Still Loving You" as the best power ballads of that whole 80's glam metal hard rock scene.

I assume "Open Up and Say Ahhh" will be discussed in the next installment.

Actually, last week. Check in the archives. It was quite a post!
  • tom werman · 4 months ago
What would you like to know about the album? I hadn't intended to go into it any further, but if there are questions, I'd be glad to try to answer them.

I read your prevous entry, whick I had not before. That answered
whatever questions I had on "Open Up."

Thanj you for the response, however. I am enjoying the series. I had
no idea you worked on "Blackout In the Red Room", which is one of my
    favorite albums from thar era.

I have to say Mr. Werman, this stuff is gold! I really hope you seriously consider writing a book, and at the very least continue writing for this site. I would love if you could go into more detail about your projects and delve deeper into the band /producer relationship at the time of the project, and maybe touch on some of the pressures or expectations you were experiencing from the label. I really do appreciate your time and effort on this series. Thank you.
