You said that you overheard the recordings for Hot Wire but Donnie Purnell did the mixes. The album credits Taylor Rhodes as the producer. Why aren't you and who is Taylor Rhodes? Donnie Purnell being a jerk is a something the band talks about quite a lot now that they are touring without him. They said he made life quite miserable when there was no need to and will never work with him again. So it wasn't you. Hope things are going well with your bed and breakfast. Have a good holiday season.

Re: The Producers: Just for Kix, Loading LA Guns, and Scolding Billy Idol

can you give any technical info on the recording of shout at the devil? it's my favorite sounding record of all time. i know you must have had a hard time getting the band to
sound that good.

Re: The Producers: Just for Kix, Loading LA Guns, and Scolding Billy Idol

Tom Werman Rules! love your work on Motley's Girls and Poison's Open up.....

Re: The Producers: Just for Kix, Loading LA Guns, and Scolding Billy Idol

Tom Werman rules!

Re: The Producers: Just for Kix, Loading LA Guns, and Scolding Billy Idol

I only stumble donto this blog a month or so ago and its my favourite read every week. I really hope you seriously consider writing a book, and at the very least continue writing for this site. I would love if you could go into more detail about your projects and delve deeper into the band /producer relationship at the time of the project, and maybe touch on some of the pressures or expectations you were experiencing from the label. I really do appreciate your time and effort on this series. Thank you.

Re: The Producers: Just for Kix, Loading LA Guns, and Scolding Billy Idol

What would you like to know about the album? A lisp. Well damn, I never guessed that.

And I will put "Don't Close Your Eyes" up there with "Still Loving You" as the best power ballads of that whole 80's glam metal hard rock scene.

Re: The Producers: Just for Kix, Loading LA Guns, and Scolding Billy Idol

I think Tom meant it was HIS first Kix album, not theirs.

Re: The Producers: Just for Kix, Loading LA Guns, and Scolding Billy Idol

Blow my Fuse was actually Kix's fourth album, not their first.
