I know I missed this thread by about 4 years but I am a big fan of Tom and if he is still getting informed of replies, I have a question. You said that you overheard the recordings for Hot Wire but Donnie Purnell did the mixes. The album credits Taylor Rhodes as the producer. Why aren't you and who is Taylor Rhodes? Donnie Purnell being a jerk is a something the band talks about quite a lot now that they are touring without him. They said he made life quite miserable when there was no need to and will never work with him again. So it wasn't you. Hope things are going well with your bed and breakfast. can you give any technical info on the recording of shout at the devil? it's my favorite sounding record of all time. i know you must have had a hard time getting the band to
sound that good.

I have to say Mr. Werman, this stuff is gold! I really hope you seriously consider writing a book, and at the very least continue writing for this site. I would love if you could go into more detail about your projects and delve deeper into the band /producer relationship at the time of the project, and maybe touch on some of the pressures or expectations you were experiencing from the label. I really do appreciate your time and effort on this series. Thank you.

Yes -- I don't think I referred to it as their first, but rather their "breakthrough" LP. which does imply that they had released albums previously. Thanks

I always thought the vocals for Kix always sounded "funny." A lisp. Well damn, I never guessed that.

And I will put "Don't Close Your Eyes" up there with "Still Loving You" as the best power ballads of that whole 80's glam metal hard rock scene.

Blow my Fuse was actually Kix's fourth album, not their first.
