Popdose: The Three Strike Rule: An Interview With Elvis Mitchell

rwcass · 1 year agoGreat interview, Scott! Back in March I read this 2003 New York Times article by Mitchell -- http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=... -- as part of some research and then realized, "Why am I even bothering to write about what Mitchell's nailed down so precisely in ways I never could?" He's a terrific writer. In fact, his film reviews and newspaper articles are what I know best of all his work; I've only seen or heard one or two of his interviews with actors, directors, etc. (though I still have a videotape from the fall of '89 of Mitchell on "CBS This Morning" with Jeffrey Lyons and Dennis Cunningham discussing holiday movies like "Steel Magnolias"; Mitchell looked a lot different then, with a mustache but without the dreadlocks). I hope I eventually get to see his interviews with Murray and Pollack.

Malchus · 1 year agoIf you have an opportunity, I highly recommend checking out his radio show. The archives for the show go back several years and some of them are fascinating. The Peter Jackson interview from around the time "Lord of the Rings" was released is still my favorite.

kshane · 1 year agoTerrific interview Scott. I think you managed to do just what Elvis spoke about in the beginning by making him comfortable enough to speak as if he wasn't just there to promote his new show. I look forward to seeing that tonight on TCM.
