Don't forget about Nickelback's first album. They may not be the best band in the world, but their still way better then Fountains of Wayne.

Aftermath of 1996

-Wallflowers never make it big again

-13 years after Nowell’s death Sublime re-unites with new
lead singer Rome Ramirez and ends up becoming Sublime with Rome due to
copywright laws (were some rumors of the band re-uniting with a new lead singer
in 2000).

-Weezer makes an epic comeback with the Green Album

-Beck proves to be a 2 album wonder

-It takes Chris Cornell 6 years to realize he sucks as a
solo artist to form the super group Audio Slave with the remaining members of
Rage Against The Machine. Then 14
years after breaking up Soundgarden re-unites

-REM stays strong and officially calls it quits in 2011

-Smashing Pumpkins release 2 more albums, reunite with Jimmy
Chamberlin in 1999, break up in 2000, re-unite in 2007 with all the original
members from 1991-1996, lose all their members except for Billy Corgan and
Jimmy Chamberlin some time during this past decade. Then Jimmy leaves the band in 2010 and the Smashing Pumpkins
pretty much become the Billy Corgan project (IE Billy Corgan solo with a bunch
of no names).

Sublime is still better then all that Boy Band/pop poser BS that started dominating the radio one year after Bradley died. Sublime rules dude, they made the last great decade in music.

What the hell??? Korn did not singlehandedly define nu-metal!!! Deftones were formed before they were they were the first to bring up nu-metal...korn got signed first but deftones already had songs that ended up in their first album before korn were korn at that time they were LAPD so that's BULLSHIT at least give the Deftones credit here 'cause it was not just korn. GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hate it when people say korn were the first nu-metal bad.

I'll put in a plug for The Refreshments, whose album "Fizzy, Fuzzy, Big & Buzzy" was the ninth best-selling debut album of that year. Huge potential, but another record biz casualty instead.

1. The first Fountains of Wayne album
2. The "Sheryl Crow" album
3. Pinkerton

The rest is crap. But any year that starts off with Genesis breaking up is bound to suck.

I think Pinkerton will be looked back on as the most influential (one of) of the 90's. All the elements for emo are there. And just enough experimentation to sound new and original. It takes a few listens and I understand why Cuomo wanted to dump everything after it, but it's one of the best albums I have ever heard. Certainly one of the best of that decade.
One question. Are all the tracks that you upload live? I ask because I have little or no use for live tracks and these are quintessential.
I guess I could buy em, but I hate buying stuff that I already purchased once already and can't find cuz I lost em in a divorce or sumpin.

Good Soundgarden album.

"King of New Orleans" was always underrated.

I really, really hated Sublime. I developed a quick release on the buttons of my car radio to skip away from that song after two or three notes.

I always figured Weezer was committing career suicide with that one, but they managed a mini-revival down the road.
