Too bad the same attitude that made him famous also killed him.

Re: Being Kurt Cobain

I can understand someone can view it completely different. I've been looking at random youtube videos of Nirvana from various performances and I can see how some other shows could have had more power.

Re: Being Kurt Cobain

Great post. I was very interested in what you said about Unplugged being a lackluster performance.

I'm pretty obsessed with that CD and DVD at the moment.

But I can understand someone can view it completely different. I've been looking at random youtube videos of Nirvana from various performances and I can see how some other shows could have had more power.

Can you go into to more detail of how that performance compares to others?

Re: Being Kurt Cobain

this is a great story

Re: Being Kurt Cobain

I always felt that as a disaffected suburban outcast, I was amongst the target audience for Nirvana's music (at least as far as the record label was concerned) - but for some reason Billy Corgan's music spoke to me a great deal louder. I never understood what the fuss was about Kurt Cobain - and it always seemed to me that he became a rock god retroactively after his suicide. Certain Nevermind was a huge album, but I didn't really see all that much existing in the music beyond an excuse to dive into a mosh pit. I always thought as far as lyrics were concerned that Cobain's junked-out ramblings were similar to John Lennon's later work and no more insightful. I guess my point is that in the wake of Kurt Cobain's death it felt very much like "Paint a Vulgar Picture" brought to life, and everybody played their part to perfection - particularly the fans.
