Did Wing just threaten us? I swear to God I heard “He sees you when you’re sleeping / He knows when you are weak …” I’m pretty sure she also implored us “to touch the hops of gold,” which I can only assume means she’d like us to quaff some brews this fine day. I’m only too happy to oblige. Like, right now. Some might say, “But Rob, it’s only 9:30 in the morning!” Whatever …

We are all just sinners in the hands of a loving Wing. To Jeff and Jason -- thank you for another memorable season. Merry Mellowmas to all; now pass the Foster’s oilcans.

    Merry Christmas, fellas.

Say what you want about Wing. On TV right now, Miley Cyrus is drowning kittens with her voice - WHAT I MEANT WAS - Singing "Here Comes Santa Claus" and, yes indeed, Miss Wing could totally whip Hannah Montana's horrors like the seven rings of Hell where Jack Burton does battle with Lo Pan and the Three Storms.

Funny you should mention something about snakes. I was just watching "The Doors" last night.

    Ride the snake, indeed.

How wondrous are the ways of synchronicity - I was just downloading "Wing Sings AC/DC" ( http://www.wingmusic.co.nz/cd10.html ) and came here - now I have more Wing than any one man deserves... or needs.

Thanks guys, for filling us with that special Jarreau... umm, I mean, Mellowmas feeling once again this year.

Jeff & Jason, did you guys ever wind up seeing Wing live in NY? She's going to be in San Francisco on New Year's Eve -- opening for Kathy Griffin, no less. I can't imagine a world in which I would pay money to see Wing perform, but I thought I'd put it out there in case any West Coast Popdose readers are dying to experience Wing in person.

Thank you for the best Mellowmas ever!

Thanks for the schadenfreude, Jason you mofo, but I'm proud to say I've sat through every bit of dreck you guys have laid out for us this month. Except Skynyrd, that is; I had to turn that off. Today may have been the best of all, though; God bless us, every one!!!!

I think Ted is closest, so he has to go see Wing on New Year's Eve; can we force him?

This was a Mellowmas of great highs (lots of laughing) and great lows (shitty songs), but that's the Mellowmas spirt!

And there is no way I'm going to see Wing on 12/31 -- unless you guys want to pay for my divorce lawyer. It's my wife's birthday on that day, and if I dumped her for Wing ... well, let's just say "Livin' in a box/Livin' in a cardboard box" would pretty much sum up my life after that.
  • jefito · 11 months ago
Who says you have to dump her? Nothing says "I love you...happy birthday" like Wing tickets!
  • Ted · 11 months ago
Is that how you proposed to you wife? "Honey, I love you, I want to be with you for the rest of my life, and just to show you how much I want to marry you ... here are TWO FRONT ROW SEATS TO WING!"
  • jefito · 11 months ago
No, but that might be only because I didn't know about Wing back then.
  • Ted · 11 months ago
If you did, you'd be single today. :-)
  • jasonhare · 10 months ago
That's hysterical. The reason we didn't go to see Wing in October when she was in NYC is because Jeff -- who started this whole Wing obsession in the first place -- backed out due to his daughter's birthday. Like she was going to remember her stupid third birthday.
  • drcastrato · 10 months ago
man if you guys didn't go see Wing, who DID? can she actually draw enough people to a venue to make it worthwhile for everyone?

    great posts guys. merry mellowmas!

Happens every year. You're just getting into the Mellowmas pace when, BAM, it's over.
  • BenW · 11 months ago
One day we're all going to be downloading torrents of Wing shows. Seriously. We'll be archiving and trading live Wing. Then she'll go back on the road with Steve Kimock and Mike Gordon and do the festie circuit. Then I can say, I was there man! I was there!
  • Elaine · 11 months ago
    No. We won't.

You know the stories of the clueless guys who get tattoos of Chinese characters that are supposed to say "peace" or "prosperity" but they don't do any research into what those characters look like and they just go to the tattoo parlor and ask for a "peace" or "prosperity" tattoo but they end up with something that means "douche bag" or "knob jobber"? That's how I feel about Wing's approach to music.

Anyway, I wish you "peace" and "prosperity" in the new year. Merry Mellowmas to one and all. It was the perfectly horrible ending to a perfectly horrible year.

What an experience this Mellowmas has been for a first-timer. I'm amazed there are repeat Mellowmas-ers, but I can also see it's mysterious draw. It is horrifying, yet curious.

I-I-I don't know what to say about Wing, other than, Why?! Who is responsible, or irresponsible, for that? Do people actually take it seriously or is it created for amusement? I think Wing brings out some anger in me. <deep breath, exhale>

Fortunately you had the good taste to finish with the "Love Theme from Mellowmas". Terje manages to eerily channel Foster once again. I am beginning to think Terje is David Foster. Beautifully done David, er, Curtis, er, Terje!

Merry Mellowmas to all! Thank you for the entertainment and holiday stress relief.
  • Sharon · 11 months ago
Oh, and if you're keeping count, I'm counting this as a David Foster related post (with the Terje/David music). And since Foster has admitted that the Liberace show was his favorite as a kid, I'll count the Liberace post too. That brings the Fozz total to 5 this Mellowmas. Nice.

    The vest was the best.

Oh, I finally woke up out of my Mellowmas-induced stupor.
    Whew!
    That was beautiful. Just beautiful.
What a way to end it all. Yes, I chose that phrase carefully.

    Wing gives me a boner.

Thanks for the awesome Mellowmas, you boys.
    And Happy New Year!

oops, I have to correct myself: Wing was opening for Joy Behar, not Kathy Griffin (who was in Times Square with Anderson Cooper). I hope someone who attended this grand event at San Francisco's Castro Theatre posts a review somewhere on the web... once they've sobered up, of course.
